GameSteed is a small site that publishes video game guides. We don't ask you to sign up for anything and we don't sell data. This page is here so you know which tools the site uses, what they collect, and how to turn them off if you'd rather they didn't.

1. What runs on the site

• Google Analytics shows us which guides people read, roughly where from and on what kind of device. It's aggregated - it tells us "this guide got 500 readers", not who they were.
• Google AdSense serves the ads that keep the site free. Google and its partners may use cookies to show and measure ads. If you've accepted cookies, ads may be personalised to your interests; if you haven't, you see non-personalised ads instead.
• YouTube embeds for our videos. A video only talks to YouTube once you press play.
• The contact form. If you write to us, we keep your message and email address for as long as it takes to reply.

2. Cookies and your choice

If you visit from a place where consent is required, a banner asks before any analytics or advertising cookies are set (Google Consent Mode keeps them off until you say yes). Cookies the site needs just to work don't need consent. Changed your mind later? Clear this site's cookies in your browser and the banner asks again on your next visit.

3. Turning off personalised ads

You can manage personalised ads from Google at adssettings.google.com, read how Google uses data from sites like this one at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and opt out of other ad networks at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.com.

4. Your data, your call

If you're in the EU, UK or another place with data protection rights, you can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how it's used. In practice the only thing we might hold is a contact message - but the offer stands: email [email protected] and we'll sort it out.

5. Changes

If the site starts using a new tool, this page gets updated and the date at the top changes.
